What is Proscenion

Proscenion is a simple graphical program that allow one to graphically put Jack audio sources on a scene (stage) and get a stereo mixdown from the capture item, based on the position of each source to the capture item. The stereo effect, both in amplitude and phase, is then send to a Jack output. It's like a multitrack to stereo downmixer, but with a more realistic stereo.

This software is mostly useful for stereo masterisation of multi-track audio sources, either live (with microphones) or afterwards (with multi-track audio file players). The capture model is a virtual couple of omnidirecitonnal mircophones separated by 20cm from each other. This is a simple model to simulate a human dummy head stereo capture.

Proscenion program is free software, copyright (C) 2018-2025 Benoît Rouits and released under the GNU General Public Lisence version 3. It is delivered as is in the hope it can be useful, but with no warranty of correctness.
